Helpful Information

How the conversion works

The tool reads the PDF's text layer and looks at the geometry of every line — font size, position and spacing. Large fonts become headings (#, ##, ###), bullet and numbered markers become Markdown lists, and runs of column-aligned rows become pipe tables. Everything else is joined into paragraphs, split at blank lines.

What is preserved

Structure is the focus: headings, lists, tables and paragraph breaks come across as proper Markdown. Images, colors, fonts and complex page layouts are not carried over — the output is clean, portable text you can edit anywhere.

Scanned PDFs

Scanned documents have no text layer, so there is nothing to convert. Run the OCR tool first to add searchable text, then convert the recognized text to Markdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are images converted?
No. The tool converts the text layer and its structure. Images stay in the original PDF and are not embedded in the Markdown.
Why is the output empty?
Scanned PDFs contain images, not text. Use the OCR tool first to add a searchable text layer, then convert.
Are images included in the Markdown?
No. Only the text layer and its structure are converted; images are not embedded in the output.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Scanned PDFs have no text layer. Use the OCR tool first, then convert the recognized text to Markdown.
