Helpful Information

What kinds of fields work

The filler reads standard AcroForm fields: single-line and multiline text boxes, checkboxes, radio button groups, dropdown menus and option lists. Each field is rendered with the right control — radios become radio buttons, dropdowns become selects — so the form behaves the way it does in a desktop reader.

The result stays a real form

Values are written into the form fields themselves (not drawn as flat text), so the downloaded PDF still has live, editable fields. You or the recipient can reopen it and change answers, and the widget appearances are regenerated so values display correctly everywhere.

Forms without fields

Scanned or flattened PDFs have no field structure at all — there is nothing to fill. Open them with the Edit PDF tool instead and place text wherever you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PDF has no fields — what now?
Flat PDFs (like scans) have no AcroForm fields. Use the Edit PDF tool to type directly onto the page instead.
Can I sign the form here?
Signature fields are shown but cannot be drawn here — use the Sign PDF tool to add a signature, then come back to fill the rest.
Are the values required by the form's rules?
The saved values follow what the PDF defines (types, options, read-only flags). Formal validation of required fields happens in the viewer that opens the file.
Is my form uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is parsed and filled entirely in your browser with pdf-lib. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.
Why is a field marked read-only?
The PDF itself flags that field as locked. The filler respects the flag — the value is reported as skipped rather than silently changed.
Can I fill a form with Devanagari, Chinese or other scripts?
Yes. The tool embeds Noto Sans automatically when a value needs it, so non-Latin text is stored and displayed correctly.
