Helpful Information
How merging works
When you merge PDFs, the tool reads each file's page data and appends it to a new document in the sequence you specify. The original files are never modified — a fresh PDF is built from scratch containing all the selected pages.
What gets preserved
Page layouts, fonts, vector graphics, and embedded images transfer exactly as they appear in the source files. Bookmarks (outlines) from each input file are carried into the merged document in order. Internal links that point within the same source file continue to work, though cross-document links (pointing from one PDF to another) will break since the files are now one.
File size after merging
The merged file is approximately the sum of all input files. If the source documents share embedded fonts, some tools can deduplicate them and produce a slightly smaller output. If the combined file is too large for email or upload, compress it afterward using a PDF compression tool.
Encrypted PDFs
Password-protected PDFs cannot be merged directly. The encryption prevents reading the page data. Decrypt the file first using its password, then merge the unprotected version. Never share passwords to work around this — always handle decryption locally.
Mobile and cross-platform use
This tool works on any device with a modern browser — Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. No software installation is needed. The merge happens entirely in your browser, so it works offline once the page has loaded.
