Base64 Encode / Decode
Embedding images in CSS, transmitting binary-safe data over text channels, or decoding API responses often requires Base64 conversion. Paste your plaintext to encode it, or paste a Base64 string to decode it back. The two panels let you compare input and output side by side, and everything stays local to your browser for privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is URL-safe Base64?
URL-safe Base64 replaces '+' with '-' and '/' with '_' so the encoded string can appear in URLs without escaping.
Does it support multiline Base64 input?
Yes. Newlines and whitespace in the input are ignored during decoding.
Can I encode binary data like an image?
This tool operates on text strings. For binary files you would first read the file as a byte array and then encode those bytes.
Is the output padded correctly?
Yes. Standard padding with '=' characters is included unless you switch to URL-safe mode, which omits padding.
